Alpha Epsilon Nu Chapter was honored to host the Alabama Region Mock Chapter for District III. We had nine different chapters represented at the training! Alpha Epsilon Nu was represented by Dr. Victoria Perry, our advisor, two officers, and 5 members. Our special guests were Dr. Humphrey Lee, PTK Regional Coordinator, Jerry Smith, Alabama Regional President, and Garon Tate, Regional Liason from the PTK Headquarters.

We started the day with a group session and roll call, then moving to our randomly selected mock chapter classrooms. We had four group sessions in which we established our chapter, it’s officers, and set the goals for the year. Then we took a lunch break, catered by Quizno’s, during which Garon Tate presented a slideshow on 5-star membership. We then returned to our mock chapters and completed our college and Honors-in-Action projects. After a short break, we then created a chapter cheer before our final dismissal. During final roll call, each chapter stood up and presented their cheer.

The Mock Chapter was an amazing experience and invaluable training to all of the officers and members of Phi Theta Kappa. Communication and contacts were forged between Alabama chapters; and we were reminded that we all work together to make Alabama Phi Theta Kappa the best in the nation!

Alpha Epsilon Nu Members Received Presidential Scholarships

PTK Presidential Scholars

Alpha Epsilon Nu members Kimberly Madison and Vertis Lucas received full transfer scholarships to Alabama State University, totally over $100,000 for the next three years. To qualify for the Presidential Scholarship, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.76. Both students will receive full tuition, books, required fees and on-campus room and board for a maximum of six semesters. The College will also provide a $1,200 annually for incidentals.

Electronic recycling at the Mobile Fairgrounds

On Saturday April 9, 2011, the Alpha Epsilon Nu Chapter had an opportunity to do volunteer work for our community. We were involved in the Great American Clean-up Electronics Recycling drive event that was held at the Mobile County Fair Grounds. Members were able to assist in collecting the various items for recycling purposes.

The Alpha Epsilon Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted twenty-three new members during the induction ceremony on March 30, 2011. PTK Collects 22,000 Bottled Water For Haiti

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society at Bishop State Community College raised 22,000 bottles of water for the people of Haiti as part of the “Water 4 Haiti Project” sponsored by Alabama State Rep. Thad McClammy of Montgomery. The project is a relief effort for the people of Haiti. The goal is to raise 1 million bottles of water by March. PTK decided to take on this effort as a community project. There are 56 members of PTK at Bishop State.
